IM Kalmar (18.08.18)

It's easy to say it's the best race or event that you've ever done when you've just been handed the microphone at the award presentations, but truely it probably is, the best race that I've ever done. Bump it to the top of your 'one day I'd like to race at..." list.

IM Copenhagen & 70.3 Weymouth (17.09.17)

A quick recap on Copenhagen since I didn't blog about that at the time, then onto the in's and out's of the race in Weymouth. A wonderfully British place to race with beach-huts, bunting and paddle boats, and it was great to be back racing on UK soil after a 7year absence. Read on for an update on the weekend's weather and condition of the Dorset hedgerows...

IM Austria (05.07.17)

11 weeks, 2xIM, 3x70.3 and 1x Oly distance races. It's been a very busy and thouroughly enjoyable 3 months of training and racing in Europe. IM Austria was another step in the right direction of getting stronger and faster through the season and it was a truly memorable experience in terms of racing the Pewag Team's 'home' race. Grab a cupper & a snack, I've got a lot to say about Austria!

IM Lanzarote (31.05.17)

A podium finish - yay! A big thanks to everyone who is supportive of my triathlon endeavours. Seeing me finish 6th or 9th leaves some wondering how I'm doing... rest assured I'm in a good place and I know that there is genuine and personal support there regardless of whether I win, lose, or am 1st loser ;) The race you say? I think that it was about a B/B+ kind of performance. A moderate swim, a less than moderate bike, and the run managed to be the redeeming feature...

Austin to Cozumel (18.11.15)

Flights are good opportunities for blogging. Fact. I'm on my way to Cozumel from Austin Tx. where of course I did the 70.3 and ran myself into 3rd place on the podium. End blog. (Just kidding. Please read on...)

Yesterday's News - IM Texas Race Report (06.06.15)

...at 11k it was time to try and get some water from the aid station, first of all I choked on it (nice) then slowed to a walk to try and actually get some down my throat, whereupon my legs bucked from underneath me. Quite weird and not at all what I'd been expecting - I was just anticpating a bit of normal walking action...

Race #4: IM European Champs. Frankfurt (08.07.12)

At one point I could hear the media helicopter up above - not presuming it was for me but I still wanted to look up and wave, surely that's just instinct? I've not been in or around many helicopters and when one flies close above you it's pretty exciting and want to take a look right?.... Running up the finishing chute was pretty amazing and once I'd crossed the line they then sent me back to run up it again! So I skipped and jumped about like an idiot making the most of it.

Grab a Coffee (& possibly a tea cake); Texas Review (23.05.12)

Ok, so maybe I pushed the Watts a little higher than my coach had advised, but my HR was low and my body was willing - so it fitted in with his advise “footnotes”! And not that I needed it, but I had a not so subtle reminder about sticking to the hydration and fueling strategy from an age group male athlete who was cycling in front of me (10m of course!) who vomited three times (left, right, left, still pedalling...) Perhaps it was Karma for him dropping his last three gel wrappers on the road…
