IM Copenhagen & 70.3 Weymouth (17.09.17)

A quick recap on Copenhagen since I didn't blog about that at the time, then onto the in's and out's of the race in Weymouth. A wonderfully British place to race with beach-huts, bunting and paddle boats, and it was great to be back racing on UK soil after a 7year absence. Read on for an update on the weekend's weather and condition of the Dorset hedgerows...

70.3 Gdynia (09.08.17)

Another month, another 2nd place and another blog. While I say 'another 2nd place' it is in fact my first ever 70.3 podium - how about that! Five weeks on from IM Austria and I'm happy that I'm finally seeing some progress in fitness. A smooth recovery from racing in Klagenfurt, the accumulation of races, a few higher intensity sessions in the interim and my body seems to be responding in the appropriate fashion by getting stronger and faster - Hurrah! In other news I've qualified for Kona...

IM Austria (05.07.17)

11 weeks, 2xIM, 3x70.3 and 1x Oly distance races. It's been a very busy and thouroughly enjoyable 3 months of training and racing in Europe. IM Austria was another step in the right direction of getting stronger and faster through the season and it was a truly memorable experience in terms of racing the Pewag Team's 'home' race. Grab a cupper & a snack, I've got a lot to say about Austria!

IM Lanzarote (31.05.17)

A podium finish - yay! A big thanks to everyone who is supportive of my triathlon endeavours. Seeing me finish 6th or 9th leaves some wondering how I'm doing... rest assured I'm in a good place and I know that there is genuine and personal support there regardless of whether I win, lose, or am 1st loser ;) The race you say? I think that it was about a B/B+ kind of performance. A moderate swim, a less than moderate bike, and the run managed to be the redeeming feature...

Challenge Lisboa Half (08.05.17)

Race #3 was Challenge half Lisboa and I felt like there were some signs of fitness returning, mostly on the bike. I finished 6th which is sort of neither here nor there really compared to where I'd expect or like to be when fit-fit, but that's not where I am right now, so I'll not be beating myself up about that. I've had a chat with the ego, and she's adjusted accordingly...

Challenge Gran Canaria Half (23.04.17)

Oof, 9th... I've got a bunch excuses... but they mean nothing. Drilling down I'm not fit yet and a race with handy competitors is always going to show the true picture. Excuses and performance aside, this was planned as a training race ...I'm keeping the eyes looking forward and the mind on the goals further down the road...
