IM World Champs (Loooong Version)

IM World Championships (13.10.18)

Every race has a story and here is mine. The marginally more concise version. I qualified late; I hurt my calf; I swam my best race ever; I biked at the pointy end; I held on in the run to finish 9th. Very happy with the overall and encouraged for the future!

IM Kalmar (18.08.18)

It's easy to say it's the best race or event that you've ever done when you've just been handed the microphone at the award presentations, but truely it probably is, the best race that I've ever done. Bump it to the top of your 'one day I'd like to race at..." list.

IM France (24.07.18)

Ironman France was something of a bucket-list race for me. The course has changed since the original 1982 Nice Triathlon (won 10x by Mark Allen) but originally the event was THE race in the calendar alongside Kona in terms of stature and prestige. Races like Nice exist and continue over the years because of the passion that people have for the sport and I wanted to experience the event for myself.

IM Copenhagen & 70.3 Weymouth (17.09.17)

A quick recap on Copenhagen since I didn't blog about that at the time, then onto the in's and out's of the race in Weymouth. A wonderfully British place to race with beach-huts, bunting and paddle boats, and it was great to be back racing on UK soil after a 7year absence. Read on for an update on the weekend's weather and condition of the Dorset hedgerows...

70.3 Gdynia (09.08.17)

Another month, another 2nd place and another blog. While I say 'another 2nd place' it is in fact my first ever 70.3 podium - how about that! Five weeks on from IM Austria and I'm happy that I'm finally seeing some progress in fitness. A smooth recovery from racing in Klagenfurt, the accumulation of races, a few higher intensity sessions in the interim and my body seems to be responding in the appropriate fashion by getting stronger and faster - Hurrah! In other news I've qualified for Kona...

IM Austria (05.07.17)

11 weeks, 2xIM, 3x70.3 and 1x Oly distance races. It's been a very busy and thouroughly enjoyable 3 months of training and racing in Europe. IM Austria was another step in the right direction of getting stronger and faster through the season and it was a truly memorable experience in terms of racing the Pewag Team's 'home' race. Grab a cupper & a snack, I've got a lot to say about Austria!
